Background Information

The Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering (BSChE) is a 4-year course that aims to produce highly competent engineers in the field of chemistry and chemical, biochemical, and environmental engineering. The field of chemical engineering encompasses industrial plant operations as well as design, construction, and operation of the processes and equipment that will ensure efficient transformation of raw materials into finished products. Chemical Engineers can be employed in various industries such as Food Processing and Pharmaceuticals, to name a few.

Program Objectives

MMSU CHE graduates should be able to:

  1. Demonstrate adequate knowledge, skills, and attitudes to be effectively integrated into a knowledge-driven global economy and hold a managerial or supervisory position in the industry;
  2. Communicate effectively and articulate ideas through various modalities and in diverse contexts in order to formulate process design and operations, improvement, and optimization including simple computer programs to solve chemical engineering problems.
  3. Commit themselves to lifelong learning and personal development to achieve excellence in the field of research and development relevant to chemical engineering;
  4. Analyze problems and issues critically, and develop ideas and innovative solutions to respond to the needs of local, national, and global communities by proposing changes in manufacturing processes and lab-scale set-ups to achieve the desired outputs.
  5. Engage in activities that promote growth and empowerment for all sectors of society by preparing proposals to implement solutions from the investigated and gathered data related to problems in industrial processes while incorporating ethics, and environmental considerations.
